Methyl Isobutyl Ketone (MIBK) is a medium-boiling ketone solvent with good solvency for nitrocellulose, vinyl resins, and many polymers. Commonly used in rubber processing, surface coatings, and as an extraction solvent in metal refining. Slower evaporation than MEK makes it suitable for high-solids coatings.
